Rounding Up Last Week

Posted by Sravan | February 2, 2009 .

You have all no doubt heard about the 100 million Adobe AIR installs and 55% penetration of Flash Player 10. Good for Adobe, congratulations!, but I am finding these regularly pumped out numbers increasingly boring. Sorry.

Ted made a post about Adobe MAX between 2008 and 2009 after returning from MAX Japan 2009. And David was interviewed on Remote Synthesis, telling us about the AIR and Flex Camp Miami.

Peter Elst will be teaching Flash Platform technologies at the Technical University of West-Flanders and he stands out in the blogosphere. Congrats, Peter!

Theresa Neil compiled a useful list of 30 essential controls to communicate an effective GUI.

Yakov Fain shows that JavaFX can be used to develop real-world applications.

Aral suddenly decided to make one fine day as the Flash on Twitter Day, and it took off very well. On the darker end of the same day, CNN Money made a Job Loss Roundup about layoffs that surpassed 100,000 last week. Apparently, there were 2.6M people laid off in the last year and the bleary forecast is that it could be another 2M this year. Making things worse, some giant tech companies have been cutting jobs even though they are cash rich.

Lastly, even though you may have all seen it already, this is fascinating.
