I don’t know how I missed these but, CopyrightHater’s 2009 Oscars Interactive Picture Photo Hunt is the first interactive game on Youtube that I came across. And I got sucked into these completely.
The way this is done is quite simple, where annotations (text and links) can be added anywhere on the video. Youtube first announced the annotations feature way back in June, 2008 as a beta feature.
While werneroi and some others may claim that they were the first to create interactive games, this shell game existed in May, 2008 itself. And interactive videos were there even in Mar, 2008. I couldn’t track the very first interactive video though. Anyone know?
Apart from CopyrightHater, PatrickBoivin and for obvious reasons Marina Orlova are a couple of users with some of the most-played Youtube interactive games. The Youtube game developers space seems yet to be crowded enough.
