Ask the Wizard – a learning place for entrepreneurs

Posted by Charles | March 22, 2007 .

Ask the Wizard is a must-read blog for whoever wants to start something you own. The blog is written by Dick Costolo, founder of Feedburner.

Dick exposes his very detail thoughts about building application for start, how to deal with allocating stocks of your baby companies. He goes very far to explains why his options stand the ways in the post.

For example, the recent post is about his view regarding “release early and release often.” He doesn’t like it and gives a very long explanation. If you are a trending web developer, you should familiar with the “release early and often” term. Many startup gurus, doers or commentators are behind it and strongly recommend it. Dick’s argument is that if you are building something sustainable for long term, you shouldn’t launch too earlier. It always good to hear something refreshing with insight. Dick’s been doing it and feedburner is going well. I’ll listen to him carefully.

Another interesting readying is about “creating competitors”. He went length saying that the ways to create competitors are: No open API, No free version and Partnerships in non-strategic areas that place company X between you and your customer.

For people who made it, it’s easier just give out money and feel good about it. Giving out knowledge and experience is rare and much more valuable. Salute to Dick Costolo, agree with him or not.
