The Google Webmaster Central Blog recently carried a post assuring webmasters across the globe that Google is now capable of indexing Flash content along with its associated external resources. In plain English, it means that if SWF X loads content from SWF Y, then Y can be recognized as a child of X and both X and Y can be indexed. The post also clarifies that sites scripted using AS1, AS2 and even AS3 can be indexed.
Yesterday, Dennis of the Morphic Group sent us a link to his nice tutorial about how to go about with Flash SEO. It can be easily followed by SEO neos and ninjas alike. A most curious tip he gives is to test how your Flash site looks like when using a text-mode web browser like Lynx or W3m. It won’t work for all SWFs, but the test could give some Flash site owners great relief.
