Ignorant that The Boston Globe has been owned by The New York Times since 1993, I wrote a snarkiest review about its new Adobe AIR-based GlobeReader comparing it with Times Reader 2.0. The home pages, FAQs, installation experiences, EULAs, the apps itself look eerily similar. Visiting their $PROGRAMFILES and $APPDATA folders hinted that it couldn’t have been possible without the two having the same development teams.
Had the NYT and TBG openly displayed where their legal loyalties lay, now that it has been 16 years together, ignorant readers like yours truly could have saved hours. But then I wouldn’t have had all the fun one has while writing snarky reviews. I am glad I haven’t posted it here or you would have read the news about a blogger’s untimely death tomorrow. Now, can I demand that The Boston Globe be renamed as The Boston Times for the safety of future mes?
