Gorilla Logic released the 1.0 version of their FlexMonkey, an open source AIR application for optimizing automated and unit testing of Flex-based applications. The earliest version first came out in September 2008.
Using FlexMonkey is easy and straight forward and one can quickly create an elaborate test suite with test cases with tests in them. The tests can be recorded and replayed for the verification of the Flex GUI. According to its website, “It is the only such tool that generates Actionscript-based test scripts that can be used within a continuous integration process.”
Eric Owens, the lead engineer of FlexMonkey gave a tutorial on the Adobe Developer Connection to get started quickly. Marcin Zreda of Test and Try in a nice review shared his experience while trying out FlexMonkey on the AIR game Flight Reservation.
The tool is being distributed under the Apache License 2.0 and it integrates with Flex Builder and FlexUnit. Download it here.
Gorilla Logic is an enterprise application development services and consulting firm that claims to deliver a 10X productivity advantage over other similar service providers. They can be contacted at info@gorillalogic.com for information about FlexMonkey training and testing services.
