More Sun’s JavaFX demos

Posted by Charles | May 17, 2007 .

There are more JavaFX demos on Sun’ Chirs Oliver’s blog. Here are the demos that you can click and run, if you have latest Java runtime installed.

A Space invader game. Flash gamer developers should be able to tell the how good it is for new gaming platform. Considering J2ME runs most of mobile games in US, JavaFX could be serious gaming language.

A calculator. Trying to mimic MacOS dashboard Widget. As Chris mentioned, it can’t get round corner done on Windows. Man, round corner is the key of Web 2.0 :-)

A 3D effect Demo. 3D is big deal now. Believe JavaFX uses the Java 3D engine. So it’ll be as good as Java does.

A Pen Drawing Tool. It’s very interesting to see how it gets done.

I think we still need wait and see how JavaFX fits in the RIA world. They start the similar way as Microsoft Silverlight. They both have strong developer communities and tools. Actually, most of their communities are application developer based. It’s quite different from how Flash evolved from designer centric to software developer focused Flex and finally Apollo. The rich base of Flash designers are the treasures of Flash based RIA. Can Silverlight and JavaFX catch up without them?
