The production video contents on MLB.com are still in Flash but they are having a beta version out on Silverlight. I tried but wish I didn’t.
First, I went to the link given here. Then my computer froze. The Firefox (silverlight plugin) took 99% CPU and the machine just hang. With MLB web site page on the big duo monitors and you can’t ALT-TAB or ALT-CTL-DEL it, man, it’s not a pretty scene. Well, I gave it the benefit of doubt, so I brutally turned off the power, reboot the machine and wanted to try it again.
Now, once it started, I went back to the site again. It seems ok but I dare not to click the play button. So I just click to close the Firefox tab and tried to leave it alone. And, the Firefox went to 99% CPU usage again and the computer froze. Good thing was I prepared with the Task Manager opened and got the Firefox highlighted already. So I just killed it, a slooow kill though.
I am convinced that it has something to do with Silverlight. It may not happen to everyone but I won’t get close to it too much until it comes out of beta. Don’t know what the MLB people are thinking to make this switch. Guess they aren’t, it’s MS money talking.

Could you send me the version #’s for your OS (including whether it’s X86 or X64), Sliverlight and Firefox installations? I’d like to get a detailed bug report to the right folks @ MS.
Thanks,
Bridgette

The team here is quite curious to hear details on your config as well - we’ve seen some limited performance issues, but nothing as bad as this with the embedded player. please feel free to get in touch at justin dot shaffer at mlb dot com
thanks,

Had this problem on my machine - Dual Core/IE6 viewing dev videos @ silverlight.net. My machine locked up every time and when I rebooted it was reporting that the CPU overclocking had failed!…
