Interpreting Adobe LiveCycle SE Update 1 Release
Today Adobe released LiveCycle Enterprise Sutie (ES) update 1. The release note packed with lots of information. Let me try to translate the news release to layman’s words:
“LiveCycle ES Update 1 adds Adobe® LiveCycle™ Content Services ES, a fully integrated set of content services and Adobe® LiveCycle™ PDF Generator 3D ES, a solution for automating the creation and assembly of PDF documents from engineering product data. “
- We need your data, the 3D data, the engineering data. We want the PDF to be the de factor of publishing the engineering document, while we realizing 3D it’s the way to go.
“This update also integrates the capabilities of Adobe Flex® 3 and Adobe AIR™, while leveraging the ubiquity and reach of Adobe Flash® Player and Adobe Reader® to enable a new class of applications that easily connect people inside and outside organizations to information and processes. “
- We’ve got all the client side covered so that you don’t need worry about the receiving end of publishing your data. Sooner or later, the Flash and Adobe reader will do the same thing. We can’t determine yet what name we will keep eventually, Flash or Adobe reader. But do you care?
“Furthermore, with LiveCycle ES Update 1, Adobe® LiveCycle™ Rights Management ES extends policy protection for Microsoft Office 2007 and PTC Pro/ENGINEER files.”
- Calm down, if you are concerning the IP aspect of your contents. As we are going open source, we are still fond of capitalism.
“LiveCycle Content Services ES enables organizations to quickly create a process or application that is deeply integrated with enterprise content and allows them to manage content in a lower-cost, extensible way for cross-company and cross-organization processes.”
- We are enterprise dude now. Repeat, enterprise, enterprise and enterprise. If don’t change your perception about us, we will change it for you.
“This solution component offers organizations comprehensive capabilities to collaborate on, create, store, manage, and secure content as a cohesive part of their end to end engagement applications.”
- Not convinced? Just read the above sentence. Get it? It sounds very very enterprise, isn’t it?
“Adobe also announced today new Adobe® Solution Accelerators, deployable solution framework and best practices methodologies to help organizations more rapidly develop applications that better engage with end users. The Solution Accelerators include the Enrollment Solution Accelerator and the Correspondence Management Solution Accelerator. These have particular applicability to financial services and government organizations when enrolling customers or citizens in services and personalizing correspondence communications.”
- We are going vertical too. We have solutions for that matter. And, when the recession looming, we are very wise to initially focus on sectors that badly want to “accelerated”, financial and government. See, we are indeed enterprise oriented now.
