

This is a old question and the article is trying to answer it again. And the answer is still the same, it depends. The chart does makes good sense and it’s true that AJAX is still a quick and easy RIA approach.
I think really to answer question like this is getting harder and harder now, with the Microsoft Silverlight and Sun JavaFX in the same picture. And the huge amount of developers based involved in the new comer technologies will make the decision more challenging too. Besides, the Javascript + Browser combo is not sitting still either. The up coming Firefox 3 will be a huge player in the RIA space too when more and more programming features will be build-in.

Its a really easy answer. Flex is the only REAL option.
FF3 is all well and good if everyone is using FF3 - but they aren’t and never will be. So thats a total waste of time and energy.
Flex can run just about anywhere already. As for Silverlight and JavaFX, get real. Silverlight won’t compete and JavaFX is vapor-ware!
The choice is simple.
