100 Flex Business Ideas – 7 – Medical Advertisement

Posted by Charles | August 16, 2007 .

Over head on radio about medical vacation, which is getting popular for people seeking things like plastic surgery or anything quick-n-beauty. That made me thinking that the medical online area is very quiet in term of innovation and utilizing latest internet technologies. I checked the site the radio mentioned, Dr. Shapiro’s Hair Institute of Florida, which is a popular quick vacation-n-fix destination for Hair Transplant. According to the radio this place is unique in that they’ll arrange for you to talk any of its clients about their experience. But the web site is not that attractive even though their business seems is good and reliable. Then comes the idea.

Medical stuffs are something very serious and complicate, which you don’t want to miss leading the users, especially the online visitors. In other hand, medicine is really just dealing with our body parts. And how many of our body part anyway. The limitation is great. What if someone can develop a body parts database, in Flex, where each part can have some interactive effects. A human body can be assembled to display the full body. Of cause the body part can interactive with each other too, in 3D. All these put together becomes a medical advertisement platform, that can be utilized to explain complex medical details, or demonstrate certain medical procedure. This will help both doctors and patients. The doctors can advertise their services in a very visual and casual ways that can be easily understood by the potential patients.

Now, If you check back the Hair Institute site, look at those blurred photos, you would appreciate what I proposed. But, that’s all you have today.

There are quite a few databases with bodyparts and diseases already around. I think it would just be a matter of databinding to them. There’s a 3d virtual anatomy software that they used while I was in med school for those who were supposedly “allergic” to formaldehyde. I’ve bee looking into medical applications of flex. I had a basic diagnostic algorithm tool coded out at one point but then my schedule got hectic.

Thanks for the comments. I do believe there are lot room in the medical space to apply RIA technologies. Visualization will benefit health care great deal if we do it right. However, medicine is such a specialized area. It really takes some people who can bridge the RIA technologies and medicine science to make it works. You might want to continue what you’ve started and share with us what you’ve done.
