The power of Web 2.0 is the power of the crowd. So far we’ve seen rate-a-doctor, rate-a-teacher, rate-a-lawyer and even rate-a-VC. Each of the categories has couple serious business model behind them. Then why not a Rate a Treatment. Medical treatment is a perfect candidate for apply RIA visualization utilizing tools such Flex, only because the results count more than anything else. Things like acne treatment , for example from TriClear I found at an ads on a site, could draw great deal of attentions from young generation people who are the driven force behind the social web 2.0 trend.

Let’s go further. Take look at the TriClear. “It’s a treatment provides a 3-step acne system that is specially formulated to quickly treat acne while leaving skin hydrated and clear, the results can be seen in less than 7 days.” It’s very attractive, right. Their web site also has convincing pictures showing the before and after difference. Now, what if we have a rate-a-treatment site with great visualization functions. The TriClear people can use it to more effectively illustrate the treatment procedures and results. They can use it as both educational and advertisement platform to attract eager clients. On the other hands, patients can contribute there experience as well by posting their before and after pictures. The visualization features can help easily mask the pictures’ identification aspect. Therefore, beside just rating with numbers and comment with words, there are visual as well. I think that will be more convincing no matter it’s for positive or negative intention.

As I always preaching here, adding visualization is essential for the current and next generation web development. It’s a solid route to extend the existing business model to broader space too.
