JavaFX the Odd Man Out?

Posted by Ross | June 14, 2008 .

According to Matt Stephens at the Register Sun Microsystems may be poised to lose a bundle of money on their RIA application JavaFX. With Adobe and Microsoft squaring off for a fight in the RIA field Sun may not have the muscle to grab a large enough market share to make JavaFX profitable.

Sun is notoriously slow in developing products and JavaFX has not been an exception to the rule. In addition Sun decided at a late stage to rewrite all of their syntax. This may be beneficial in the long run as it makes JavaFX easier to program but it may slow adoption in the short term.

Sun needs to get motivated to get their product to market while there is still a market.
