Adobe Releases AIR 1.1

Posted by Sravan | June 19, 2008 .

The latest version of AIR was released a few days ago. The release focuses primarily on localization: AIR installation and runtime dialog boxes and support for AIR applications in various languages (along with keyboard input support for double-byte languages).

In parallel, the Adobe AIR website is being made available in all these languages. A new release of AIR for Linux, however, may not be availabe until “later this summer”, that too as a beta version.

For help in localizing your Flex app, read this developer article. You can also check the example used in the article: Apprise. To build a multilingual HTML-based application, this article will be useful.

A beta version of the AIR cookbook was launched a day later, to help grow the AIR developer community . The cookbook is currently blog-like; where anybody can post (and find) solutions and work-arounds to common coding problems related to building Flex, Flash, or HTML/Ajax-based apps on Adobe AIR. Like in all blogs, all posts can be rated and commented on.

The idea is to select some of the posts for the upcoming Adobe AIR Cookbook that is to be published by O’Reilly Media.

Read the Adobe AIR 1.1 FAQ for any queries related to the release and visit the AIR cookbook for general information.
