Music sites working on principles of social networking are on the rise. Last.fm, Anywhere.fm, and now the lovely Grooveshark.
Grooveshark was founded a little over two years ago by three University of Florida students and has ever since been soaring high up the search engine rank skies.
The best feature of Grooveshark is that it allows you to listen to any song in its entirety for free, regardless of where you live. This is especially good news for music lovers outside US, UK, or Germany. (The more popular Last.fm offers free music in its entirety only in those three countries.)
Moving on, Grooveshark also allows you to legally share, discover, and download music without DRM restrictions. If other users buy songs through your account, you can earn along with the actual copyright holders.
Grooveshark Lite is their web music player built using Flex. Users are not required to create an account (which, of course, is free) to browse and listen to songs using this beautiful RIA.
The search is fast and so is the streaming. It being Flex, one could spend hours browsing (which I have been doing since this morning). Their music library is so large, Grooveshark Lite could be termed as a music search engine as well.

hey sravan, thanks so much for the write! we’re trying to help out with what we’ve all experienced: the huge disconnect between music fans and the music industry as a whole. but mostly, i’m just glad you were able to find some tunes you like.
let me know if there’s ever anything i can do to help out, and thanks again.
oh, and we love flex!
Thank you, Ben. Thank you all. Keep up the great work.
Grooveshark is great! I quite like its total flash interface! However, currently I really have a favourite website for free and legal music on demand, the name is http://www.deezer.com ! I love it, you can listen to anything you want, and there are also smartradios like on Pandora! Enjoy!
groove shark is awesome
Isn’t it, Bronie? It is one of the services that I continue to use a long time after I’ve first come across.
