Wallowr Now on AIR

Posted by Sravan | June 25, 2008 .

When Wallowr started last year it didn’t seem very different from FriendFeed, Socialthing or even Google Reader. But by launching two products, and recently winning two prizes in the RJI-Adobe AIR student competition for one of the products, the team ensures all our attention.

Wallowr.AIR is a desktop application that makes our lives easy when it comes to keeping abreast with various updates that we are flooded with every day (both personal and otherwise). The AIR application saves commuting between umpteen sites by streamlining all the popular social networks and their features, and local and national news feeds, into a single user-friendly place.

Wallowr.AIR allows you to access news, messages or other notifications from friends belonging to various social networking sites. It acts like a single window for blogger, delicious, digg, imageshack, livejournal, reddit, twitter, youtube and many others. We can expect the Wallowr folks to integrate more sites into the application with time.

Your personal info on all these sites can be simultaneously updated by updating it on Wallowr.AIR alone. When a friend adds a new video to youtube, diggs a story, or uploads an album, a notification reaches your desktop through Wallowr.AIR along with notifications about news feeds on various newspaper or any other website feeds that you’ve subscribed to. You can then open only those that you’ve time for and read those stories or watch those videos through the single outlet.

Wallowr.AIR uses a SQLite database built into AIR, and allows you to work online/offline and search for what you want. And there are many more features. Watch this youtube video for a feature tour.
