Two plugins reduce Wordpress blog spam to zero
Blog spam eats big chunk of bandwidth. Turn off comment? No, that’ll make blogger very lonely. Ask for user registration for comment? No, who the $#% think you are! Well, if you are lucky enough using wordpress. These two plugins will reduce the spam to zero. In my case, 700 spams per month to zero.
Akismet - “Remember the days before spam?”
As usually, install wordpress plugin is really just upload the files, period. This one needs extra step though. you need get Wordpress Key to inactivate this plugin. But it’s well worth it. Once all set, this plugin will catch 100% spams to your site. In my case, very rarely, it took couple of good really comments too. However, this plugin won’t save your bandwidth. Go get the next one.
Peter’s Custom Anti-Spam Image Plugin for Wordpress
You must know the thing called “Captcha”. It’s the twist image word or number that you need copy to the a field on a form. Usually on user registration form or, yes, the blog comment form. There are a few Wordpress Captcha but the most easy one is the peter’s. All you need to do is installed (upload it) and activate it. That’s it. No more spam. Glad us human beings are still better than computer programs on pattern recognization.
It seems I don’t even need Aksmet anymore. We’ll see.

Akismet is a useful thing! I used it and some spam list with different adult and drug words. It works, the amount of spam is reducing!
