Meebo has been a blessing to all the chatterboxes in the corporate world. Still, there might be some who miss chatting through a messenger client, unsatisfied by a large window of a web browser. MeeBone can be their simple solution.
I only say that this AIR implementation of Meebo “can be” a solution because it is a towering example of all the things that can possible be wrong in Beta versions. There is a lot more work to be done for it to appeal to those other than AIR addicts. The program starts with difficulty, sits uncomfortably (for the user) on the desktop when minimized, and just won’t get off the desktop when you sign out.

MeeBone is only an unofficial hack; Meebo does not provide an API to work with. It is tasehagi’s first Adobe AIR app written to learn ActionScript 3 and Flex 3. I am immensely impressed, and partly ashamed. (All my firsts are still some kinds of “Hello World!”s.)
As one guy put it, MeeBone is “a desktop app that runs a web-based app that emulates several desktop apps.” The added layers could make the messaging very very slow. Notwithstanding all these, I hope that tasehagi continues working on this, releasing newer better versions.
