The New Flex.org

Posted by Sravan | July 22, 2008 .

Flex.org recently underwent a complete makeover. While the previous look was geared up to get developers acquainted with Flex, the new one is more focused on community resources. Beginners can still use the Flex Development Center and Product pages on Adobe to get started.

The new Flex.org definitely seems more user-friendly, easily navigable and contains a lot of information in the home page itself compared to the previous version (snapshot). Content is aggregated from various sources — news from Digg and DZone’s flash-flex tags; jobs from SearchCoders, RIAJobs.org, FlexGigs and Dice.com; and aggregate podcasts from the Flex Show and RIA Weekly.

The new enhancements make Flex.org a vibrant social community where registered users can add their own components, themes or softwares, user groups, and events. The site now also maintains a list of Flex consultants from across the world (with the disclaimer: “None of the information has been verified.”)

But the highlight is the amazing showcase, even though it loads annoyingly slowly. Nowhere else would one find such a comprehensive list of flex RIAs along with descriptions about each.
