Develop Flash Application in Ruby

Posted by Charles | August 18, 2008 .

There are this IronMonkey open source project that will enable Flash development using language rather than ActionScript. Here is another one, HotRuby.

HotRuby is a Ruby VM written JavaScript (yes, it’s odd and interesting), which runs opcode compiled by YARV.

Here are examples of developed using HotRuby: Pinball – Flash and Box2DFlashAS3 – Flash.

But, don’t get too excited, as the project site on Google Code said:

Most of the grammars are implemented. However, exceptions are not implemented. Most of the build-in functions and build-in classes are not implemented.

Ok, we’ll wait.
