Randy Pausch Leaves

Posted by Sravan | July 28, 2008 .

The much needed weekends can sometimes be so unjust. I was too busy enjoying my weekend to notice that Randy Pausch took his last breath on 25th July. When I read this piece of news early this morning, I didn’t realize how much he touched me until my eyes welled up with tears.

Randy Pausch was an American professor of computer science, human-computer interaction and design at the Carnegie Mellon University. He was the founder of the beautful Alice project and was named in the Time Magazine World’s Most Influential People List last year.

I saw his “Last Lecture” the first time several months ago, and was impressed by his wisdom and humor. Time and again, whenever I came across it, I didn’t mind spending another hour revisiting the video. But it is not just his advice, his wisecracks, nor his push-ups that continue to have a magnetic effect on me. It is the humanity and simplicity that he personified in such a natural, effortless manner. Just watching the video makes me feel good, makes me feel more alive, like Robert Benigni’s Life is Beautiful does.

I shall watch it once again today. I hope you will too. Please do, if you haven’t before.

Randy Pausch may have left this world, but he lives on in every heart he touched.

I am sorry for this irrelevant post, but you can understand this exception.
