RichFLV is an Adobe AIR app that can edit FLV files. It is also the only FLV editor, according to Ted Patrick.
There aren’t many instances where one might need to edit FLVs, it being mainly used as the common compressed output format. But ‘many’ doesn’t mean ‘any’. You might simply want to edit all the fluff off your favorite youtube video.
Even if you aren’t the editing kind, the installer for the latest version of RichFLV is just 592.3KB, it blows up to 723.4KB upon installation, and it is good to have it on your desktop. As an FLV player.
Using RichFLV is very easy and user-friendly and I was able to edit a few sample videos in seconds. It can read FLV Metadata, read/edit/modify/delete cuepoints, export the FLV to various formats (mp3, JPEG, PNG, SWF, XML), and jump forward and backward. The last feature is what I find especially useful because MPlayer and VLC often fail/hang during forward seeks.
I hope that the next version of the AIR app includes the drag and drop feature. Right now, every FLV needs to be opened in the usual tiresome File->Open manner.
