Fresh AIR is Refreshing

Posted by Sravan | July 31, 2008 .

Earlier this month, Adobe acted in a manner that caused much furor across the RIA community. James Whittaker, an interactive Designer and Developer, was asked to give up his domain FreshAIRApps.com for trademark infringement. As some people then pointed out, it could be because copyright law requires companies to proactively challenge unauthorized use of trademarks or risk having them slip into the public domain.

Anyway, I have been periodically observing the developments in this scenario partly because I am one of its regular visitors and partly because… well you know it.

James has promptly bought a new domain, RefreshingApps.com. Until recently, the site has been under construction and I wondered why, because it doesn’t take a lot of time to redirect or replicate a domain to another. A part of me hoped that Adobe revoked its action and I would’ve contacted James. Now we know. He has been working on a makeover for the new domain to look new.

FreshAirApps now automatically redirects to the beautiful RefreshingApps. The new site was launched last week and I love it. Feels cozier, though I don’t use Safari. The coolest part? “I’m happy to say that we will be working closely with Adobe and their evangelists to further promote the Adobe AIR offering, RefreshingApps…”

We wish James the best with this new fresh, oops, refreshing site.
