Rounding Up Last Week

Posted by Sravan | August 4, 2008 .

British Telecom acquired Ribbit for about $105M. Ryan Stewart already interviewed Chuck Freedman, Ribbit’s director of development platform, about the way it might affect developers. Ribbit, the self-proclaimed “Silicon Valley’s first phone company”, is an open platform that enables voice telephony in Web 2.0 applications.

The Flex SEO Contest Ryan launched early last month got good participation but poor results. “Google doesn’t appear to be indexing things very well,” he writes, one month after we all celebrated that flash is now searchable.

Snackr, a Flex RSS ticker, the RSS ticker in my case, now syncs up with Google Reader in its v0.38 build. How cool is that!

Adobe’s Product Manager for Flex Matt Chotin talks about the future of Flex on The Flex Show. He is also trying to pool all non-Flex/non-RIA resources that make learning RIA technologies easier. Please take a moment to give your inputs. Enough suggestions might turn this into a good repository.

Lastly, A List Apart is calling all designers, developers, information architects, project managers, writers, editors, marketers, and everyone else behind websites to participate in the Survey 2008. I wonder whether they have prizes like they did last year, but anyway the survey takes barely five minutes.
