Rounding Up Last Week

Posted by Sravan | October 6, 2008 .

We all know about the Web 2.0. But Enterprise 2.0? I’m not pulling your legs. Here is a nice commentary about the “catch-all phrase”.

Adobe is releasing an experimental software (an AIR app) called the Configurator, using which users can create custom panels with select menu items and advanced features. Despite how weighty the name may sound, this is only a step ahead of Microsoft’s new menus in Office 2007 and there aren’t really many steps ahead. tgdaily offers a first look.

Yakov Fain posed a question in a LinkedIn group called “Adobe Flex Experts”: If you could add just one feature or suggest an improvement to the Adobe Flex team, what would it be? In the twenty-requests-list, the most common request, unsurprisingly, is “better performance of Flex Builder”. For Adobe AIR, it is support for DBs others than SQLite.

Sure, you must have heard about the launch of Adobe Creative Suite 4. But have you heard about the cruel geographical pricing? Peter Elst has a post with four pie-charts elucidating how varied the prices are. I can understand (not really) Hulu geographically dividing the internet, but Adobe? This is unacceptable, and hopefully unsustainable for them in the long run. I know this is old news, but hey, I was sleeping most of the previous week.

Sleeping? Yes, I was down with severe fever and acute cold. Still can’t get rid of the running nose. I’ve even read about Apple curing common cold hoping it to be too literal. Sigh.

I’m still trying to update myself, but there is a good chance I might have missed most of last week’s developments in the world we care about. Care to enlighten me with something that I ought not to have missed? Thanks in advance.
