Employee, the first two or three employees set the tune for rest of the company. Don’t let anybody in until you are sure they will be able to set the tune you like for the company. Hire people you like and people like you. [funding] There are two paths for startups to get funded, bootstrap and investment. Bootstrap is on you own. You have to start the company first. Investment could be from angel […] Continue Reading…

multiple file upload with ruby on rails Acts_as_Attachment

After playing with three file upload plugins, I decided to give Rick Olson’s Acts as Attachment a seriously try. By the way Rick Olson is working on another file upload plugin called Attachment_Fu (no more acts_as). It’s a total rewritten of acts as attachment. Great but just not mature enough yet. But I’ll definitely switch to the “Fu” once is stable.

Anyway, too bad acts as attachment is not designed OOTB (out of the box) supporting multiple file upload. Also, the Ruby on Rails go-defaulting approach is bit too extreme here. As you know, if you follow pre-defined naming convention, […] Continue Reading…

I don’t like to mix politics with technologies, even though it’s been doing this way more and more these days. But this one is just too funny to not share.

nice try – how to make a flash animation without Adobe

It’s interesting to see people try things that they shouldn’t bother to do so. Here is a example. I’d like to inspire people to do things like “using AJAX to do what Flash all can do.” Seriously, why bother.
