And, according to Jesse Liberty at Silverlight.net, “Silverlight 2 is big. Very big. It’s great, but it is very big,  with many cool features.” How would you prepare for Silverlight? Finally I finished the Flex RIA site redesign, actually I should say “re-theme”. Take a look and tell me how do you like it! Wish my dear readers will like this new site better. In general the idea is to make the the site easier to read. That’s the reason I added background color to it. The orange-ish color suppose make it warm and comfy. In the mean while I still like to keep some of those black color, which is cool and really RIA-ish. Good thing about WordPress is that all the struggling is at CSS level. Once […] Continue Reading…

Posted by Charles | February 21, 2008 | 13 Comments

With $6.5M from Frazier Technology Ventures and Morgenthaler Ventures, blist is to make it the “easiest database” in the world, in Flash/Flex.

I think the money invested is for the believe of the next generation web, the Semantic Web (Google called Web 3.0). A Flex based RIA approach is certainly a niche enough drawing attention from VCs. Blist is competing (or exploring) in the same space as where Freebase is in, which has generated more than 3 million topics, 1200 types in 70 domains. While Freebase is at plain data side, Blist seems intent to provide more integrated tools as […] Continue Reading…

How do you access local resource without using a hard coded absolute path? Jeffre houser has a quick tip for an answer. There are two URL schemes come from Adobe AIR: app:/: App URLs are relative to the application install directory.
