Think Again Before Visiting Microsoft Home Site

If you have have problem on your PC with Silverlight, you have to be careful when trying to visit Microsoft’s home site. It could freeze your PC and the only remedy you have will be brutally power off your machine. I have complained about the Silverlight-hangs-PC issue before. The same complains at this thread of discussion is getting longer and more upset too. Now it’s getting worse.

I visited Microsoft home page. They promote Silverlight right there, and I believe there is Silverlight on that page too. It killed(by hanging) my PC, which is running Microsoft’s very own Windows XP. […] Continue Reading…

Touched by a Java RIA App

It seems Java does has a come back, as I mentioned recently. Found this new company called TouchGraph. It’s visualization consulting service company that start offering online services. Its TouchGraph tool is a Java Applet tool that allow you visualize term/phase’s relationships found from either Google, Amazon and Facebook. I can’t imagine people would do this using Java a few years back. But by playing this application I’m really impressed by Java’s visualization capability, which is something refreshing. I’ve tried use the term Flex888 and created a TouchGraph shown here:

Job sites are a very crowded area. I guess that’s why people start pushing the creativity side of it. The new comer MyCredentials is a recruiter evolved into a job seeking site. They think you need spicy up your resume or profile online to make yourself more marketable on the wild west web. Just Draw on Your Browser

Simplicity is beauty. That certainly applies to RIA applications. Sometime creativity comes with doing less. That’s what WebSketch, a Flash drawing …um…thing made of. You won’t find anything fancy there, just a gray-ish plaint tool bar and the rest blank browser to draw on. As simple as it can go. However, if you start exploring, there are quite some amazing features there. I like the one that you can play back your drawing. You can save and print. There are a few tool icons haven’t had function implemented yet. Looks they are still cooking it.

You know Flash, Flex, HTML, Javascript, you know mRSS feeds and you like MTV, then try cook up an AIR application to reward yourself with a trip to New York, MTV VIP night and Adobe software. That’s the MTV Adobe AIR Challenge you can enter. Heading the Challenge site you will find all sorts of mRSS feeds and assets you can use to spicy up the application. Go knock yourself off there.

Flex Music Mixer on AIR

To demonstrate the audio engine under development by DigiDood, they created this Adobe AIR application show the desktop music mixer. Man! This application is a serious piece of work. You really can’t get a hang of it if you are not into mixing music. However, once you installed it, you will find that this AIR application comes with a set of samples that you can start the mixing works.
